Brain Food To Go

By Hedrick Lepsch

It's your property, your sanctuary. It's your home. You are the CEO. And just like any good CEO, you need to know exactly what that means before you can start acting well in your capacity. The CEO is the Chief Executive Officer. Implied in its name, you are the person that makes the executive decisions.

From making sure that work gets done within the home all the way to ensuring the bills get paid, you coordinate the efforts of everyone in the "family business" to make sure the family still works at the end of the day. Now often in a marriage, the CEO title is given to two people equally: the parents.

The most commonly accepted answer to this frequent query is that classical music offers your brain the most optimal stimulus, allowing for maximum performance in memory and retention. Composers like Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven are among the most popularly recommended as the soundtrack for your study session.

So that's the general job description of the home CEO. When you break it down though, the responsibilities are vast and numerous.

Most of us see 'Vitamin C' and automatically think about oranges. (The marketing guy who came up with that was a genius.) But oranges fall roughly in the middle on the list of edible plant sources for this vitamin, which is thought to help boost mental agility.

First, a home is not a home if it's not caring for the temporal needs of its inhabitants. This means that the house is stocked with food, bedding, clothing, and medical supplies needed to take care of the residents.

With that, you'll have to become a nutritionist (caring for your children's nutritional needs), a home nursing consultant (as scratches and bumps will need the nursing help of a caring father or mother), and a taxi driver to and from health appointments/clothing stores. The CEO has to learn a bit about each important field to make the family meet its needs.

As your body's primary source of energy, glucose should be a vital part of your diet. Glucose is a vital carbohydrate that your brain and body need to get you through the day.

The key to getting the most out of this nutrient is to consume foods with a low Glycemic Index or GI, meaning that the glucose in these foods is released over a longer period of time, providing a consistent source of energy as opposed to the spike and decline of energy in foods with a high GI.

Regardless of the music you select for your study session, one thing is certain. Distractions are the number one reason for failure to focus and a lack of concentration.

No business can stand without careful analysis of the budget. Keep a constant eye on your finances and don't let up.

You need to stay within budget and make the sacrifices necessary to make it work. Take full responsibility for the financial situation and take pleasure in making ends meet.

At the end of the day, when you're in college, what matters is passing the test and making sure that you're able to keep that information with you to use as you embark upon your chosen career path after graduation.
