What It Takes To Get Overhead Crane Operator Certification

Aspirants seeking a break in the bridge gantry industry can give their prospects a major fillip by qualifying for the Overhead Crane Operator Certification. Operators need to understand two key principles which are proper rigging and safety at the work site. This requires them to get thorough training and complete qualifications to be able to carry out their duties properly.

The job requires operators to familiarize themselves with activities like operation, rigging, signaling and maintenance of cranes. The training will prepare them on the techniques of the job challenges on the site. Training typically lasts for four days but may vary according to the specific type of crane.

Overhead cranes are controlled by remote control making it necessary for operators to be trained for the same. In this gantry there is a hook connected to a metallic bar that is static. For qualification for the NCCCO nod, candidates should not be below 18 years and need the transport department to provide medical clearance.

Handling cranes is not about operation alone as they also have to be maintained and inspected on a regular basis. The job comes with his challenges in particular physical demands and has a high degree of risk as well.
