When writing a cover letter, make it so powerful in a way that will highlight all your best qualifications and have it read by the HR or Hiring Manager. There is no specific kind of format to be followed but there are series of guidelines that will aid you do it right. What is most important is the act of cover letter proofreading which must be done right.

There are some tips that will help you as well and you need to follow them to make it well published and strong. The first thing is to address it to the intended individual or person. If a job posting does not include the information about the owner or the person then do some research to immediately find out the right person to be addressed.

Call your employer as much as possible and if calling them is possible. You can definitely ask the name of the one hiring by asking the receptionist. Keep everything professionally done by having the right address like Miss Steve or Mr. Smith. Be specific with the names too to avoid upsetting the one hiring.

When writing a certain cover letter and there are no names available, you can simply address him or her Dear Hiring Manager. What must be avoided is the using of To Whom It May Concern and so on. Avoid this and your letter will be presentable. Another is ensuring that you hand sign it or else it will mean you are mass mailing everything.

Avoid using words like I or anything that makes it so self centered. The cover should be about what you can offer for the improvement of the company and not yourself. Keep things simple by using Times New Roman with 12 point, using of bullets can be also done. Ensure that the paragraphs are only short and brief.

Always have a creative closing. Never use the overrated thank you for your consideration or sincerely. Think of something different that will make it stand out and be remembered by them. You can try any uncommon words enthusiastically yours, with my best regards, yours always, good wishes always and so on.

Always customize the cover for a specific job. Ensure you customize it to match the position you are applying for. It must specifically highlight the qualifications of a particular job opening and plenty of keywords that are relevant. When you customize the letters slightly for each employer, do not forget to remove all references to another company.

Ensure to have the printed copies clean and attractive. For every paper copy, always use a high quality stationary and a good printer. It will give them the initial impression so make it a point to look professional and clean to be hired.

Always keep everything brief yet meaningful. A half page bond paper or at most two thirds is not bad when everything is clearly stated as it should be. When you do it so brief then expect that they will understand it themselves and it will also show your understanding that their time is valuable.
