Facts About African American History

The African people have one of the most interesting histories in the world. In this article, we will revisit the African American history and how the people have advanced over the years. You will notice that there are many Africans spread over the amercing continent. Black people who are in the US fall into the category of descendants of former African slaves.

However, there are those that settle in US because of marriages and immigration and have become an important part of the society. Many black Americans trace their origin to West Africa. It is because of this transatlantic trade. The Trans-Atlantic trade connected three continents that include the America, Europe, and Africa.

The Europeans who lived in America were there for cheap labor that they could find in Africa. The trade made African societies sells the delinquent members of their society. The group comprised of people who were guilty of committing serious crimes that were unacceptable in the society.

In some places, there were societies that took part in the war for the purpose of capturing additional slaves whom they will use to obtain products from the European people. The trade made Africa exposed to other countries and hence the scramble and partition for Africa took place. Moreover, America had farmlands that needed to be cultivated so as to provide food for its people. They, therefore, settled for Africa where they could get cheap labor.

People also loved Africans since they were hardworking and could endure even the harshest of the conditions. The trade gained popularity such that Europe developed fast compared to other countries. The first black individual to get into America did so because of this trade.

These people would later form the population of the current America. As time went by slave trade was abolished and the sons of these former slave owners and former slaves could now interact freely in a free nation. However, the struggle of racism has been a challenge since the abolition of slave trade.

Some of the white people usually felt uncomfortable sharing some amenities with the blacks. It eventually led to segregation in t community. Black leaders like Martin Luther Junior championed for the new revolution that would see that the society viewed everyone equally. He led people to do demonstrations along the streets to champion for the removal of specific laws that were causing communities to be separated.

Martin Luther King Jr. Led peaceful demonstrations ushered a new era in America. Now the blacks could be employed in offices like the other white people, and the society would now share every public amenity without discrimination. Many years after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. A black American in the name of Barrack Obama took the reign of power. It was one of those biggest milestones towards a cohesive society. The black citizens in the current age are the descendants of these slaves, and some have immigrated to America looking for greener pastures. They are now part of one of greatest nations in the world The United States of America.
