A permanent employment position is among one of the many things that human beings regard as important. Without a regular paycheck that employment usually comes with, people will have great difficulties regarding their needs and wants. After all, even though money does not buy everything, but all the material things that man needs for him to survive have their own monetary equivalent.

Aside from having regular employees, a company can have all sorts of workers. Among all these, they may also have their share of independent contractors that have already taken and passed the California contractor license exam. These people do everything they possibly could to improve company outputs without cutting back on company expenditures.

Independent contractors pertain to people, businesses, or corporations that is integral in the provision of the needed good and services for the operations to run really well. They are no way similar to the regular employees that one hires under one wing. They do work that are almost always specified in a written contract or a verbal agreement.

Before they can affiliate or collaborate with bigger groups, it is essential that they subject themselves to the licensure exam and ace it. While low budget projects can be done even when the contractor is not a license holder, projects that are tantamount to more than five hundred dollars should have a licensed one. When one operates illegally, he will then suffer from the weight of all the penalties he will have to face.

When a contractor is caught in the act of misdemeanor, he will be penalized. An illegal worker may have to spend six months under custody of the police and will be made to pay a penalty fee of five hundred dollars. This can even rise up to about twenty percent of the total project cost, especially when one if found to be illegally working on a large scale operation without adequate license.

There are certain qualifications that one must meet in order to be a licensed contractor. One should be at least eighteen years or older. He must also have the necessary skills that will enable him to manage the daily activities of the construction business. His function must also include field supervision.

There are also certain cases where the licensing board will allow the applicant to bring along somebody else. This third person is more commonly known as the qualifying individual. To qualify as an able representation, the third individual must have at least four years of experience doing certain functions.

The next step is to apply for the examination. Exam sites are located in testing centers scattered all throughout the state. Authorities and testing staff use zip codes to assign applicants to the centers that are located to the site nearest them. Applicants are mailed with a notice to appear for exam which states the location, date, and time of the testing.

During the test, applicants are given more than three hours. If you do not arrive on time, your chance will be given to another. Test results will also be announced in a few hours after the exam.
