It should be a good idea to learn about the school you are planning to attend such as the Michigan State University. This huge university actually has one of the ten highest student populations of any university in the country. For more interesting facts on Michigan State which is the home of the Spartans, read on.

Michigan State, which first opened its door in 1855 and during that first year, there were only five instructors and 63 students. This was the first agricultural college in the United States and actually was then called Agricultural College of the State of Michigan. Its current name, Michigan State University, was not adopted until 1964. The university initially was a college for men only, and became a co-educational university in 1870.

Note that MSU has a long and distinguished record in the world of athletics as member of the Big Ten. Its football team was participant to five Rose Bowls where in the most recent in 2014, they even defeated Stanford University. Of the five Rose Bowl participations they have a record of only one loss and that was way back 1966 where UCLA defeated them. As for their men's basketball they have won two NCAA championships and theirs is the alma mater of NBA Hall of Famer, Magic Johnson. In an overall scale, MSU has 12 intercollegiate sports for the men and for the women, 13.

MSU can definitely give you a variety of four-year or graduate degrees with its nearly 20 different colleges. Known for its College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, this school is still able to give you other colleges like veterinary medicine, human medicine, nursing, education, law, engineering, music and more. And in every college you choose you will have areas of study for you to earn a degree. Take for instance enrolling in the College of Arts and Letters will enable you to major a variety of areas like women's studies, languages, theater, history, philosophy, etc.

Since it is important for students to have social interactions in the campus, MSU guarantees hundreds of groups to join in. Regardless of your interest, you are sure to find a club or group in the campus which can cater to you. Examples are geography club, geology club, ballroom dance team, a Quidditch group as well as clubs for those practicing a specific religion or a club for those interested in watching Doctor Who. Every student is encouraged to join a group as there can be something for everyone and it's the best way to meet other people and be interactive.

It can be a real hassle for students to attend to packing and hauling of items to take home during breaks from school if they live in dorms. So, why not consider renting perhaps a Bath mini storage unit, a mini storage in Dewitt, mini storage in Haslett, or a mini storage in Okemos or East Lansing? Good security and an offer for a month-to-month rental with student discount is simply what you need to find for these.
